Graham Mackenzie

     Graham Mackenzie has been principal oboist of the Windsor Symphony Orchestra since 2006, and holds the same position with the Hamilton Philharmonic, Niagara Symphony Orchestra, and the Musicians of Orchestra London.  He was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago in 2009-2010, and has been engaged as a freelance musician in Chicago, Winnipeg, and many cities in Southern Ontario.  He has participated in summer musical festivals including the Tanglewood Music Centre, Music Academy of the West, and the National Repertory Orchestra, among others.  He completed his Bachelor’s degree at Wilfrid Laurier University, studying with James Mason, and his Master’s degree at DePaul University, studying with Eugene Izotov.  He completed two years of doctoral coursework at Indiana University, studying with Linda Strommen and Roger Roe. He has performed as concerto soloist with the Windsor, Kitchener-Waterloo, Music Academy of the West, and Wilfrid Laurier University Symphony Orchestras, as well as the Hamilton Philharmonic.  A passionate teacher, Graham joined the oboe faculty at Wilfrid Laurier University in 2014, and maintains a studio of private students. In his spare time, Graham enjoys running, yoga, ping-pong, word games, making music with his wife Margaret (who is a bassoonist), and looking after his 6-month-old son, Jasper.
